Roger Bannister

Arete
Roger Bannister
(1)In 1954, at the Iffley Road Track in Oxford, England, medical student Roger Bannister becomes the first person in recorded history to run the mile in under four minutes.
(2)Roger was faced with several obstacles, like prioritising two things he loved. In order for him to have gone running, he felt he needed to put med school first.  Bannister had limited time to train, as he was enrolled at St. Mary’s Hospital Medical School. He would run 30 minutes most days, focusing the rest of his time on his study of neurology.
(3) I think technology could have impacted this if there were an easier way to multitask. Maybe in the future theyll be a chine that stops time to let you have time to do other things.

(5)I see Roger as an inspiration because id like to be able to multitask the way he did. I wish to become a dermatologist and an actress at the same time. Maybe even dancing and singing. He managed to be a doctor and one of the fastest runners ive heard of.

Shrinking Camera Tech Turned Smartphones Into Super Shooter

Computer science innovations
Shrinking Camera Tech Turned Smartphones Into Super Shooters
(A) Cameras in phones are so commonplace now that users take them for granted, but improving the picture-taking capabilities of the newest devices means cramming a lot of tech into a small, and thin, package.
(B) Sakols said that improvements to phone cameras made taking pictures more convenient and allowed the phone to compete with point-and-shoot cameras. This would affect photography because now theyd go out of business. This would also save us more money and time.
(C)This innovation Would solve the fact of timing. Now youd be able to capture good moments in the best quality. This would save so much money like for a traditional 15, you need to record all of it and it has gotten so expensive.
(D) I would take advantage of this innovation because my hobby is photography. I  love to take pictures and now id be able to take really good ones. I do not have a camera because the prices have gone up, so this would be convenient as well.

Mikaele Oloa

Arete
Mikaele Oloa
At the age of 15, he is still the youngest competitor to have ever won the title and has capabilities of dancing with up to four fire knives. He began dancing at a young age and is most known for his accomplishment of becoming the 2005 and 2006 World Fire Knife Dance Champion in Laie, HI.

Mikaeke Has been training since a young age, following his fathers footsteps. his is an ability he has picked up at the age of 5 when he began training with his father,Isitolo, another competitive fire knife dancer.

Technology could have helped this because, if there were some type of burn prevention for those whom were training, it could have prevented injuries and deaths. He currently assists Kalena's Polynesian 'Ohana in Polynesian dance instruction, choreography, music and is a lead in Tahitian music and composition. His dream is to travel the world and share his love of his culture to everyone.

Reflection: I feel as if, doing this type of activity takes a lot of time, responsibility and ambition. If he didn't want to do this then he wouldn't have tried and probably would have gotten really injured along the way. Hes been doing this since a young boy and has managed to keep motivation for his passion and persevere through this. i dont think id be able to do this but id certainly try.

Detecting emotions with wireless signals

Computer science innovations
Detecting emotions with wireless signals
(A) This innovation can detected you felling at the moment. Whether you're feeling sad, happy, please and joy. By measuring subtle changes in breathing and heart rhythms, EQ-Radio is 87 percent accurate at detecting if a person is excited, happy, angry or sad — and can do so without on-body sensors.
(B) This innovations would impact everybody being used in entertainment, consumer behavior, and health care. Film studios and ad agencies could test viewers’ reactions in real-time, while smart homes could use information about your mood to adjust the heating or suggest that you get some fresh air.
(c)This innovation could help relationships by detected what the other person feels. They beat around the bush? no problem, it can detect the truth. This can help any service management to help satisfy customers and etc.
(D)This innovation caught my attention because the first thing that came to mind was helping out my future relationships. Now id be able to know what they're feeling. I also find it kind of interesting because certain  times id like to keep people in oblivion not knowing how i feel.
Left to right: PhD student Fadel Adib, PhD student Mingmin Zhao, and Professor Dina Katabi pose with their EQ-Radio device, which can detect emotion using wireless signals.

Arete
Nathan Sawaya
(1)Previously a NYC corporate lawyer, Sawaya is the first artist to ever take LEGO into the art world and is the author of two best selling books. His unique exhibition is the first of its kind to focus exclusively on LEGO as an art medium and has broken attendance records around the globe. The creations, constructed from countless individual LEGO pieces, were built from standard bricks beginning as early as 2002.

(2)it takes ambition, Nathan Sawaya is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, recognizing his artwork and cultural achievements. In 2014, with the belief that “art is not optional,” Sawaya founded The Art Revolution Foundation, for the purpose of making art a priority in our schools and our homes. He has been a speaker at Google Zeitgeist, TEDx, Yahoo! and at the Clinton Library.

(3)I think technology helped this because now we have our first lego running car. there is no need for gas either, it runs on air. Another innovation is creating weapons and a machine in which it can solve a rubik's cube in 3.5 seconds.

reflection: i admire him because he gave up his carrer for what he loves.

Wearable Camera Lets You 'Go Back in Time

Wearable Camera Lets You 'Go Back in Time' to Record Fleeting Moments

(1)dont you ever wish you could go back and record that lambo that just raced by, or that awesome jump shot your friend just made? A new wearable camera lets you do just that: go back in time, so to speak, to retroactively capture those fleeting moments you thought you missed.

(2)This innovation would affect all families. We now get to record that funny moment we just missed and save it for future reference. we can now capture our first words and to later show them to the rest of our families. now for moving making, it wouldnt take too many shots since now they can get that one they didn't get to record.

(3)This would now solve people reminiscing. Them wishing they could go back in time, when they can just look in the camera and see that moment. that best moment that was too late to catch in the camera, they now have it.

(4)I think this innovation would help me lots since i am your senior historian and id like to capture all of its best moments. Allowing me to go back in time and take a picture of a football player making a touch down would be perfect. I am also very family oriented and the family photographer, so id like to catch our happy moments as well.

Alex Hattori

Arete
Alex Hattori
(1) three-time National YoYo Champion Alex Hattori appears in the new OneRepublic music video for their single, “Wherever I Go”. The video was released just yesterday and already has over 100,000 views, which is pretty good! Alex appears in the video with actor Kenneth Choi (Sons of Anarchy, Captain America: The First Avenger).
(2)It took year to get to where he is, with years of practice. He was determined and persistent and never give up. In some videos he was actually 14, so he had been very young to be in tournaments
(3)technology impacted alex because he had said in one of his facebook posts he couldn't have done it without music. In each of those videos he had been listening to music because he would synchronize with it.
(4)Image result for Alex Hattori
(5)i admire Alex because he would thrive at a young age to be where he is now. He began to compete and ended up going to nationals at the age of 16. He went a long way at that age and is continueing his carrer of yoyoing. i dont blame him, if i had his talkent, i would to.

Blown to Bits Summary

Blown to Bits Summary
Throughout the story, several things decided to stand out to me like the fact that once the suicide bombers in London decided to attack, technology was uprooting tremendously and cameras is what everyone would use. I think that whole paragraph explaining the bombing was intresting to me, " On July 7, 2005, London was shaken as suicide bombers detonated four explosions, three on subways and one on a double-decker bus. The attack on the transit system was carefully timed to occur at rush hour, maximizing its destructive impact. 52 people died and 700 more were injured". Little did owell know that his uproot would create more kaos than every and let to the lack of privacy we now face.  The explosive growth in digital technologies radically altered our expectations about what will be private and shifted our thinking about what should be private. Ironically, the notion of privacy has become fuzzier at the same time as the secrecy-enhancing technology of encryption has become widespread. Indeed, it is remarkable that we no longer blink at intrusions that a decade ago would have seemed shocking. Unlike the story of secrecy, there was no single technological event that caused the change, no privacy-shattering breakthrough—only a steady advance on several technological fronts that ultimately passed a tipping point. Now we lack privacy more than ever and I think that's what stood out to me because I advocate towards my freedom. I go against the government guarding me like a puppy. I am a human being and I should be served the rights I was supposedly born with.

Online shopping/e commerce/auctions

Computer science innovations: "Computing enables innovation in nearly every field"

Online shopping/e commerce/auctions

a.) This innovation is accessible and one of the most handiest i believe. I use it occationally when transportation is a problem or when its sold it in stores. With this innovation you can buy, clothing, makeup, tools, cars, essentials and more. The internet is your market and will arrive within a certain amount of shipping days.

b.) This innovation affects everybody, because it affects the economy. It affects the company because of demand and it affects us because now we have a convenient shopping method. This impacts stores as well because now people prefer online shoppiong, but sometimes does not because some people dont want to wait for shipping so do store pick-up.

c.) This problem would solve traffic since instead of people going to go to the mall, they just open their laptop and buy it on there. Some things are ven cheaper online so this will help keep money in our pockets

D.) This innovation is one of my favorites because i can usually count on it to buy what i want and what is not in stock at the store. I mean it has its cons, like you aren't able to try it on. If it doesn't fit you it is nonrefundable so youd have to stick with it. I prefer to go to the mall because id be able to walk around and bond with friends.

Carl Karcher

Carl Karcher

Carl Nicholas Karcher (January 16, 1917 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio – January 11, 2008 in Fullerton, California)[1] was an American businessman, founder of the Carl's Jr. hamburger chain, now owned by parent company CKE Restaurants, Inc.

Restaurant business[edit]
Karcher and his wife started their first business, a hot dog stand, on July 17, 1941 in Los Angeles, California when they borrowed $311 against their Plymouth automobile and added $15 from Margaret's purse. The stand initially sold hot dogs and Mexican tamales. On his 28th birthday, January 16, 1945, they opened their first restaurant, Carl's Drive-In Barbecue, in Anaheim

Their restaurant quickly expanded, with the restaurants numbering 100 by 1974 and over 300 by 1981. Karcher served as chairman and CEO of the company until its own board of directors voted him out in 1993 after years of infighting over strategy.

Karcher objected to the sexualized nature of the Carl's Jr. ad campaigns of the 2000s, and was said to have been "heartbroken that a company he founded on Christian principles has taken such an amoral act."

SMART WIND AND SOLAR POWER

Computer Science Innovations: "computing enables innovation in nearly every field"
1. SMART WIND AND SOLAR POWER
A.)This innovation have advanced us in multiple different way by being a replacement for energy. It technically renews its integrating sustainable energy sources into the current power grid. Big data and artificial intelligence have made it easier to predict how much power wind turbines will produce. Anticipating power fluctuations is key to developing technologies for integrating wind and solar into the power grid. Every few seconds, almost every one of the hundreds of turbines records the wind speed and its own power output. Every five minutes they dispatch data to high-performance computers 100 miles away at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder.

B.) This innovations itself has an impact on everyone. Farmers usually use it and thanks to them we have fresh produce. Without fruits and veggies we are unhealthy people that lack vitamin and nutrients.  Households also have solar power that are more conservative than energy.

C.)Renewable energy is a practical, affordable solution to our electricity needs. By ramping up renewable energy, we can:Reduce air pollution, Cut global warming emissions, Create new jobs and industries, Diversify our power supply, Decrease dependence on coal and other fossil fuels, Move America toward a cleaner, healthier energy future.

D.) I am a total advocate for this if it means id live in a healthier world. Id want my kids to live with less pollution that i was raised around. I dont want blacks clouds, id want a clear sky id like to look up to.
