Internet Censorship

Marilyn Mora
Internet Censorship

What is internet censorship?
It is the control or suppression of what can be accessed, published or viewed on the internet. Some countries impose direct censorship; others have stringent policies against unlawful posting online while there are countries that are somewhat lenient with videos going viral.
1. It will keep children from being victims of sex trafficking and pornography
-The less the protection, the easier it is for a pedophile to continue his malicious ways

2. It can control illegal activities
-Having censorship can also regulate and stop underage drinking and the use of drugs. Several times I have tried watching a video on my twitter that looks harmless then converts to a murder or pornographic video. They aren’t inevitable if internet censorship would be implanted more.

3. It lessens the incidents of identity theft
- With Internet censorship, it limits the access of personal information.  . By using anti-phishing software, which serves as a form of internet censorship since it warns the user that a kind of software is trying to get access, it gives the user the chance to keep hackers and companies from getting pertinent information.

4. A free society should be able to set limits
-I am one to advocate for freedom of speech, but I think that even that such have restrictions. Without internet censorship, individuals can be victims of cyber bullying and racist speech and way more.

5. It helps in strengthening national security
-By implementing laws against hacking and imposing hefty punishment to violators, national security can be preserved. Without this, terrorist would be able to access important information.

6. Parents cannot be there always to watch out for their kids
-Some parent’s do all they can to protect their kids when they are around but what about when they aren’t. A lot of crimes of these types have to do when their parents are around. I think if a child wants to do something, then they would go far limits to do so. The stricter the parents, the sneakier the kids.

WI-FI

Internet innovation
"The internet changes the world"
WI-FI
(a) The internet has enhanced in variety of ways and i think WiFi is one of the most important. Thanks to Wi-Fi, though, even though your modem still needs to be connected via wires, your computer doesn't. Devices which can use Wi-Fi technology include personal computers, video-game consoles, smartphones, digital cameras, tablet computers, digital audio players and modern printers. Wi-Fi compatible devices can connect to the Internet via a WLAN network and a wireless access point. Such an access point (or hotspot) has a range of about 20 meters (66 feet) indoors and a greater range outdoors.
(b)Being able to take the Web with us (i know i am thankful!) without the need for wires has definitely made our lives better. What other Web technologies have made my life easier and simpler. Wi-Fi provides service in private homes, businesses, as well as in public spaces at Wi-Fi hotspots set up either free-of-charge or commercially, often using a captive portal webpage for access. Organizations and businesses, such as airports, hotels, and restaurants, often provide free-use hotspots to attract customers. Enthusiasts or authorities who wish to provide services or even to promote business in selected areas sometimes provide free Wi-Fi access.
(c) Having WIFI solves problems such as work/school related issues. If you need your assignment due withing a certain time to turn in online, with wifi, you have internet available for you. you can now turn it in through your laptop and will have that availability. this also improves internet traffic when my internet is so slow.
(d) I think this innovation has really made several aspects of my life easier. Sometimes with just the internet i have now, i cant even send a message through twitter nor load an image. It is because of WiFi that helps me get my work done when i get home.

New Friendship bracelets that teach kids how to code

Computer science innovations
New Friendship bracelets that teach kids how to code
(a)Friendship bracelets have always been tending and has been used for several things. Some of them being that friendship bracelets are fashionable, can say what your allergy is(in case of an emergency), and now to teach kids how to code. A new product called Jewelbots aims to elevate friendship bracelets from fashionable status symbols to an interactive, educational tool that teaches kids to code.
(b)This innovation would impact kids themselves and to everyone who wears them. We have to give them something they love so they learn and code," Chipps told Live Science. So, she went directly to the girls and asked them for advice. Their nearly unanimous answer was to design something centered on friendship, according to Chipps.
(c)Jewelbots communicate via Bluetooth, piggybacking on nearby networks to extend their reach, Chipps said. The bracelet is not enabled with wireless or GPS technology to protect kids' privacy. In fact, Chipps added that the bracelet could be programmed to send a text to a parent or guardian if a child is feeling unsafe.
(d) I think this innovation does not fall short and it is a good idea. It introduces kids to the upcoming technological world in which it has and will continue to enhance. The bracelets are for young children to begin learning from a young age how to code and open there eyes. The kids of today are the future and earlier we teach them, the more they'll learn.

Ben Carson

Arete
Ben Carson
(1)Carson's achievements include performing the first and only successful separation of Siamese twins joined at the back of the head, pioneering the first successful neurosurgical procedure on a fetus inside the womb, performing the first completely successful separation of type-2 vertical craniopagus twins, developing new methods to treat brain-stem tumors and reviving hemispherectomy techniques for controlling seizures
(2)Born in Detroit, Michigan, and a graduate of Yale University and the University of Michigan Medical School, Carson has authored numerous books on his medical career and political stances, and was the subject of a television drama film in 2009.
(3) Technology has impacted this greatly because he couldn't have done it without it. He could not have done it with such advanced thorough technology to get Siamese twins through it. It is because of him and technology that they're alive.

(5) It is great that Ben has done good neurological jobs. He tried and succeed with a surgery that took great patience. There are some things i do disagree with like where he stands politically. One of the things i also dislike is that he feels poverty is a choice. I dont believe so, but i cant change the way he thinks. He has done some good and has spoken very highly of his mother and i admire that. I admired the stories of his mother because i feel as if i cant relate.

Real-Life, Full-Size Transformer

Technology Innovations: "Technology enables innovation in nearly every field"
 Real-Life, Full-Size Transformer
(a)In a series of videos, the company Letvision unveiled a transforming robot built from a BMW 3 Series coupe. Letrons, as the prototype is called, is controlled via a remote and can be seen driving and transforming in the video. It took a team of 12 engineers and four supporting technicians eight months to complete the prototype, Letvision officials said on the company's website.
(b)This innovation affects everybody. In the video, an operator appears to use the remote control to drive the Letrons vehicle across a lot before initiating the machine's transformation. As the BMW slowly unfolds, a robot is revealed and stands tall.
(c) This innovation could solve traffic. Now cars and people could get to their work easier and faster. the company said it is planning a full line of transforming cars to join the bright-red Letrons, likely including an array of colors and body styles. Though this innovation can have man malfunctions, it can be safer.
(D) I think this innovation is really cool and a dream come true. Ive watched transformer movies all my childhood, and to see them come to life it amazing. Now i think traffic would decrease and the streets would be safer.

Back to the Future Self-Lacing Shoes

Computer science innovations: "Computing enables innovation in nearly every field"
How to Get the 'Back to the Future' Self-Lacing Shoes
(a) These shoes had originally came out in back to the future when marty mcfly put them on. Once you put them on, they have the ability to tie themselves. "Power laces — all right!" In "Back to the Future Part II," teenage time traveler Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) was understandably impressed by a pair of sneakers that conformed to his feet and laced themselves automatically.
(b) This innovation would affect everyone. I'd affect me because sometimes i get too lazy to even tie my shoes. This would also prevent being from tripping and falling.
(c)The limited-edition release of the 2016 Nike Mag offers the self-lacing sneakers through an online lottery in collaboration with the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Lottery entries can be purchased with a $10 donation to the foundation; 100 percent of all the proceeds will go toward research for a Parkinson's cure, according to a statement released by Nike.
(d) I think this innovation is actually pretty cool because since i was small i fell in love with them. I loved the shoes and the idea of them lacing themselves. They might be really expensive but the money goes towards a good cause.

What is the internet giveaway?

What is the internet giveaway?

The internet giveway is all in this video: http://video.foxnews.com/v/5147952282001/what-obamas-internet-giveaway-is-really-about/?#sp=show-clips

What this problem is, is that the government is allowed to take a segment of the internet. Now our privacy, is being controlled. The Commerce Department's National Telecommunications and Information Administration announced the transition plan in 2014, saying it would enhance the "multistakeholder model" of internet governance. The agency said it was always envisioned that the U.S. role in overseeing the functions would be temporary. The announcement came in the wake of Edward Snowden's leaks about NSA surveillance — which sparked questions in Europe and elsewhere about the U.S. role in managing the internet's architecture.
